Frequently Asked Questions

Buying a car from Hammond Cars

How can your cars be such great value?

Our philosophy is to provide nearly new, quality cars at the lowest prices in the UK. Our expert buying team, together with our bulk-buy capability, allows us to achieve this so the savings are passed directly to our customers.

Do I need to negotiate on price?

Our cars are already sold at the lowest prices in the UK, so you can be reassured that you are getting our "best price" every time.  This means you don't have to waste time haggling and can drive away with your car sooner.

Can I test drive a car?

Absolutely. We are happy for you to test drive a vehicle (either with or without a Sales Executive), and only ask that you bring your driving licence with you for insurance and identification purposes.  There is no need to book a test drive in advance unless you want to make an immediate appointment with one of our Sales Executives.

Buying a car can feel pressurised - what makes Hammond Cars different?

We completely understand that for some people buying a new car can feel a little stressful.  At Hammond Cars, our sales teams take more of a customer service & retail focused approach to our customers which alleviates any stress.  That means there is no "hard sell", we give the same high level of service to all our customers regardless of how you are financing the vehicle, and we will even let you take a test drive without a member of staff in the car.  Both our Ipswich and Great Yarmouth sites are rated as 5 Stars on Auto Trader and we regularly receive excellent feedback on AutoTrader and Google reviews for our customer service and "no-pressure" approach.

Do I need to make an appointment?

The choice is yours -  simply pop down to one of our sites and we will be happy to assist you or feel free to contact us to make an appointment. If you are travelling some distance to see us, or have a specific car in mind, then it may be easier to make an appointment so we will be ready when you get here.

Can I buy a car and drive away on the same day?

Absolutely. All our vehicles are fully prepared and ready to be driven away on the same day.  We will even give it an extra valet before you drive it away.

What are the fees involved in buying a car from Hammond Cars?

The only fee we have is a £99 one-off charge which covers the costs associated with the transaction.  These costs can include valeting, HPI Checks, inspection and transfer of funds.

I have seen the car I like, can I reserve it?

Due to our excellent prices, we operate on a quick turnover of stock which makes it difficult for us to reserve stock for any length of time.  However, if you have identified a specific car you want to purchase and are travelling some distance, simply ring us and we will hold it for you until you arrive.

Trading in your old vehicle

Do you accept part exchanges?

We are happy to offer a free no-obligation part-exchange facility as part of our service.  We use the UK's favourite car buying service Webuyanycar.com as the basis for our part exchange valuation, so you can feel confident that the valuation you receive is transparent.  Using the Webuyanycar.com valuation as a guide, our Sales Executive will examine your car with you and then finally confirm the part exchange price.

What do I need to bring with me if I want to part exchange my car?

If you are part exchanging your car, please bring the following:

  •           - V5 Logbook

    ·         - MOT Certificate (if applicable)

    ·         - Service History

    ·         - Spare Keys

More about our vehicles

What are HPI checks and do you carry them out on all your cars?

An HPI checks the history of any motor vehicle registered in the UK and is the first line of defence against vehicle fraud. All our vehicles have extensive HPI checks to ensure you have full peace of mind and feel confident buying from Hammond Cars.

Do your cars come with a warranty?

All our vehicles are supplied with the remainder of manufacturer's warranty, which is manufacturer dependant (e.g. Nissan - 3yrs, Hyundai - 5yrs, KIA - 7 yrs.) however we always aim to have a minimum of 6 months warranty on each vehicle.

Do your cars receive a service?

Every car we have in stock is sold with a full service history. Our retail advisor will be happy to advise you when the next service due.

Do you inspect your cars before selling?

Prior to going on sale, each vehicle receives a thorough 150 point mechanical, safety & bodywork inspection, followed by a two stage final quality control inspection.
